Getting Involved Opportunities

We believe that strong partnerships will enhance the learning within our TEAM Dore community and offer opportunities to engage in learning with us. We greatly value our many volunteer helpers.

If you are a Dore parent, please see also Dore Parents Association page.
For information about Growing Club and Let's get cooking, see the Extra Curricular Activities page.

Reading and Maths Volunteers

These are parents and community members who regularly support us in reading programmes and Maths in school time. Reading volunteers are supported through ESCAL.  Each volunteer is committed to working with individual children or in supporting a year group.  The school will provide training for this valuable work.

Some parents do a marvellous job in opening the library so that children may borrow books. This takes place in school time. We much value the parent team who operate the Story Sac system in F2. Parents have also been helping us catalogue books and story sacs for our Junior Librarian System.

Training Opportunities

Dore Primary is a training school. We work in partnership with: ESAFELD Teaching School AllianceSheffield Colleges, Sheffield Hallam UniversitySheffield University to provide Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and apprenticeships for those who wish to work with children. Each year we train several graduates inhouse through School Direct with ESCAFELD. We also offer placements to BA, PGCE, Child Care and Sports Studies students through SHU. Each year we welcome International Students to work with us and are delighted to broaden our global horizons in this way. This year we have Slovenian and German Language Assistants (Erasmus) and our American students.  We are also training a Spanish teacher for 1 term. We are delighted o be an active partner school in  the ESCAFELD teaching alliance where we will be able to share our very long-standing good practice as a training school and will be able to learn from and train with other schools. If your interested in joining TEAM Dore, please contact us.
We work closely with our Family of Schools (local schools), our Milestones Group for assessment without levels (Deepcar St. John, St. Patricks, St. Anne's) and our F2 project work schools. We also enjoy welcoming 6th form students from King Ecgbert to work regularly in a voluntary capacity with our classes. Please email the Headteacher if you wish to take up this opportunity. Y10 pupils may work in our Infant School and Y11-13 pupils may work from R-Y6.  Please complete the letter of interest information as suggested in the file below.
