Children In Need 2013 raises £2000!! Oh, and Nick Clegg drops in to congratulate Dore children.

Yet again we have had a fabulous Children In Need day at Dore Primary school. All week children were busily buying raffle tickets to win Pudsey prizes and two HUGE bars of chocolate donated by Mrs Smith and today we had super heroes, pyjamas and onesies as everyone threw themselves in to raising money for this great cause. In KS1 the DPA had organised cakes and biscuits for every child in the Infants and in the KS2 hall the Juniors were running stall. From manicures to treasure hunts and football activities there were plenty of opportunities to spend money, have fun and support Children In Need.
Then in the afternoon, at the Junior assembly where the winners of the Pudsey prizes were presented, Nick Clegg turned up. He heard the Y5 Dore Democrats explain why raising money to help those who are less fortunate is so important and why we try to make a difference. Then he drew the raffle tickets out and presented the prizes before congratulating the DPA for helping to support us today as well as saying how impressed he was with the children for raising such a fabulous amount of money.
Finally, Mrs Smith and I want to thank every member of staff in Dore who have helped make today such a great day. Then also, as usual, the DPA Coin Counters who patiently worked most of the morning sorting and paying in the money as well as distributing cakes and biscuits to the Infants. Then we want to thank all the fabulous children of Dore Primary school and their equally fabulous parents and carers who organised stalls, prizes, posters and spending money. You should be very pleased with the difference you have helped to make in the lives of many, many children all across the UK.
