Cross Country

Saturday 31st January was the last Sheffield Primary Cross Country League meet of this season. A massive thank you needs to go to our small but committed team of runners and their families for turning out for each race whatever the weather! This week we had some fantastic results yet again. Martha came 2nd, Tom 59th , Henry 61st and Rosa 40th.

All the children have progressed with their running and most weeks have built on their results, finishing in increasingly higher positions. But the results really are only a party of what cross country running is all about. The team spirit that the children have developed over the weeks, partnered with pure grit, determination and endurance illustrate what a fantastic sport this is to be involved with.
The horrendous wet weather of this autumn and winter has tested all the runners , and I have to say I am not sure how our Dore team have kept on smiling round some of the courses; after wading through mud and  crawling up slippery slopes! But smile they do, and when they have finished their own races, however cold and wet they are, they stay on the field and cheer their friends on.

At the end of  February the children will go onto represent Dore Primary at the inter schools City Championships in Graves Park and we wish them all Good Luck.

A massive thanks to Sally Darley (parent) for organising and attending in support of the children
