Cycling to MAKE A DIFFERENCE

posted 18 Aug 2015, 15:51 by Lynnette Glossop
We were treated to 2 very special assemblies where TEAM Dore members spoke to us of endeavours in the summer to raise funds for projects very close to their hearts.  Some of our Dads  (calling themselves the Fat Lads from Dore)who only took up cycling in Summer 14 after the Toure de Yorkshire cycled from London to Paris to raise money for the refurb' of Sheffield Children's Hospital.  They completed this tough challenge and rode into Paris on the eve of the finish of Tour de France, raising much more than their original target of £50,000.  In fact they are almost at the point of being able to fund TWO parent rooms!
The Carter family who have now moved away from Sheffield did a long cycle route over 3 days doing the Devon Coast to Coast route raising money for a project in Africa. The family have previously spent time living with and supporting this project.  WELL DONE to all our fund raisers - You rose to the challenge and this will MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE! Thank you also to all who have sponsored these projects!
