16 of our Y6 children were GREAT ambassadors for Dore when they took part in the FirstNewsday Challenge at the Town Hall in March. We took 2 teams along and enjoyed working with 15 other schools in the competition; there was lots of paired work with children from right across the city in activities such as fact or opinion, Headlines, Call my Bluff, and a newspaper trail of eye-witness clues to decide whether the wolf really was a villain or a victim.  The children were also entertained by poet/storyteller David Harmer in the finale.  We were absolutely delighted to win the World News Quiz scoring 9/10 in the team round and Yasir demonstrating his brilliant knowledge of world news scoring the maximum 10/10 making Dore the Champion School with 19/20!  We think this is a great outcome which shows how used Dore children are to reading FirstNews and taking an active interest in the world around us and Global Citizenship. I was also very proud of the way our children supported much younger ones in the activities. Congratulations TEAM Dore Y6!
