Forest Schools Jamboree

On Tuesday 17th June our Forest School Club enjoyed a wonderful day out at Norfolk Park at the Forest Schools Jamboree. The event was organised by Activity Sheffield and gave our six foresters the opportunity to learn plenty of new skills. We foraged for materials to create crafts such as a willow & wool dream catcher and a banner that read 'Dore Primary' in an ancient iron age language, 'Ogham'. The highlight was when the children each had a go at climbing a rope ladder that dangled from a high tree branch- fully harnessed and helmeted of course! They also tried their hand at low tightrope walking, and perhaps most excitingly were taught how to build and light a fire. It was a great day out and gave us the opportunity to develop our foresting skills whilst team building and having plenty of fun.
