Key Skills Gymnastics Competition.

posted 15 Mar 2016, 05:46 by Richard Hanks
Every year there is a Key Skills Gymnastics Competition for Sheffield schools. The competition was held on Thursday 28th January at Hillsborough Leisure Centre.

We have some great talent in the Gymnastics club. This year we entered four teams (usually we enter two or three teams).  Every child has to perform a floor routine and also a vault routine.

Floor routines involve some of these moves: round offs, cartwheels, handstands, bridge, splits, y balance, backward roll to straddle and arabesque.

As you can see from the results below all four teams were amazing.
  • Y3/4 Foundation Team came 4th out of 27 teams.
  • Y5/6 Foundation Team came 5th out of 28 teams.
  • Y3/4 Advanced Team came 9th out of 11 teams (there were only 5 points between 1st and 9th).
  • Y5/6 Advanced Team came 4th out of 18 teams.
All the children also did a performance in assembly on Tuesday 1st March for KS2  pupils.

Thank you for all your hard work and congratulations on such fantastic results.

Andrea Atkinson.
