On Sunday 24th March we were given the marvellous opportunity to provide a choir to combine with 5 other schools to perform in the Launch Concert of the Sheffield Music Hub.  We were invited to provide 30 singers who would work with choir teacher Nick Cox from Sheffield Cathedral for 6 weeks in preparation. ALL the children were volunteers from the older end of Junior School and Nick was supported by Andy Goodwin (who leads our choir) and Alex Hayward Brown who is a teaching assistant who is keen on music.  Many thanks to them and of course to all of our singers for giving time to this exciting venture.  It was brilliant too as we watched our children mix with their peers from right across the city, enjoying making music together.
The concert was awesome and will be remembered for a very long time.  As well as singing 3 songs in a massed choir, the finale, accompanied by a FULL orchestra, was a very powerful and moving piece.  We all enjoyed a wide range of music and performance too and all commented on the fantastic percussion performance from Bents Green school.  We are hoping to work again with Nick Cox and also to learn from the Bents Green percussion ensemble who are keen to come and visit!
