Each year there is a weekend trip to The Oakes Adventure Centre in Sheffield.  This year 57 Dore children from Y3 - Y6 (you have to be 8) have enjoyed an action packed weekend full of challenges, adventure, team games, great food and an opportunity to understand more about Christianity and what Christians believe. After settling in on the first evening and supper there are introductions to the team and a huge wide-game out on the field before bed in the large dorms. Home made chocolate-chip muffins warm from the oven are a great start to the morning in this beautiful place. After a meeting and dorm time children spend the day in their chosen activities getting a chance of four sessions over the weekend. This includes archery, climbing wall, high ropes, remote cars, art & craft.  In free times there are plenty of games to play and places to go; games room, coffee bar with air hockey, pool, table football, mini basketball court, chill out in the dorm, ball games on the field. It is an absolute pleasure to be with this large group of children in such a beautiful setting where we are so well looked after and can enjoy having fun and learning together! The Oakes weekend 2013 is 15th to 17th November. A date for your diaries!
