Road Safety Week 2013

posted 25 Nov 2013, 02:29 by Lynnette Glossop   [ updated 28 Nov 2013, 12:54 ]
Each year we focus a high profile week on Road Safety to supplement the ongoing-work about well-being and safety which takes place in the curriculum in GUS (Growing Up Skills). This year we have the support of a strong parent School Change Team action group helping to organise and plan for the future. Each morning w/b 25th November parents and children will be reminding our community about the importance of safe driving and parking and encouraging us to walk as much as we can both for safety and healthy exercise.  Each child will receive a quality reflector for their journey to and from school which has been funded by the DPA and the School Pot Fund. We have also launched our new Traffic and Travel Policy. There will be lots of activities going on in school and visits from our local police community officers.  See some of our first happy campaigners.  Watch this space as the week unfolds! Go to our new Road Safety page.
Tuesday saw a difference with less traffic and some saying they had chosen to walk further :) !  It was great to see SO MANY children wearing their NEW reflectors!
