Saturday
8th March proved to be a very chilly and windy setting for the City
Championships at Graves Park. Thank you to all who hung on to the flag to stop
it blowing away! We had some very courageous runners who battled the
elements and the strong competition to complete the 2013-2014 season in
style. Sam McKie excelled in finishing 2nd in the city in the Y4
boys' race on one of the toughest courses in the event and this must give him
great confidence for next year. Congratulations to all who competed and
finished in such tough conditions. See the results in the file below :) I would like to thank and highly
commend Jed Darley who has not missed a race ALL season - what a fit and tough
competitor along with Will O'Hanlon who has sometimes run the xc in the morning
and represented the school in the orienteering competition in the afternoon. My
thanks also to other children who competed in nearly every race: Elizabeth
Hardy, Harriet Broughton, Callum Gray, Tom Gray, Sam McKie, Pippa
Broughton. Thank you - You have made a very loyal team even though we
have not managed to get 4 runners each time in each age group. Thank you
also to all of our runners who have come along to some of the races or to try
out. A new season in 2014-2015 :) Thank you very much to Miss Birch
and Mrs. Fielding who run our Marathon Club which is a GREAT place to
practice! Many thanks must also go to all the parents who support their
children and to Kathryn Hardy who has organised so well. I have much
appreciated this! :) |
