Swashbuckling Pirates for CBeebies

We were approached by the CBeebies TV programmer and asked if Y2 could take part in an upcoming programme of Swashbuckle.  The children were asked to produce collages of fruit and vegetables as part of a healthy eating theme and were also asked to learn the pirate Swashbuckle Salute.  We thought this an ideal opportunity to dress up as pirates as part of the summer 'Splish Splash' topic and also had the idea of turning the Jungle Gym into a pirate ship.  Thanks to a MARVELLOUS group of parents from Y2 with a lot of creative ideas and energy we had a magnificent pirate ship and cove to match the weather on filming day on Friday 6th June.  Thank you to ALL the staff and parents who made this possible and, of course, to the children for their boundless enthusiasm for this special event which was such a good and interesting experience for them. We hope that the CBeebies programme will use this footage in their programme although the school's name will not be used - so look out for it! :)
