UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award Presentation

posted 31 Jan 2014, 23:50 by Lynnette Glossop
Dore Primary School was awarded the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award at the highest level in May 2013. We were delighted to welcome the Deputy Director of UNICEF UK to Sheffield with Nick Clegg to present this prestigious international award.  Our Millennium Development Goal team led by Kathryn Davis and Julie Dungworth gave a presentation to show the steps of our journey in validating our strong Rights Respecting and Global Citizenship ethos. The group have now renamed themselves the Golden Globes! Their work alongside Fantastic Fairtraders, Eco Warriors, Young Leaders and Dore Democrats have provided tremendous evidence of the impact of pupil voice and participation at DPS. We understood the scale of our achievement when we were told by UNICEF that we were the first school in the UK ever to be awarded level 2 at the first assessment and there are only 2 schools who have achieved this. We are the only school in Sheffield to hold this award and we are the LEAD school in supporting Behaviour & Management in Sheffield. Many thanks to Ruth Woodham who is our link governor and a keen supporter of this work.  WELL DONE and CONGRATULATIONS to everybody! :)
