Westminster 2014

Our annual trip to Westminster where the Dore Democrat school council members and their parents tour the House of Lords, the House of Parliament and visit Downing Street took place in September.  We were again lucky with a beautiful sunny day which showed London off at its best - this made the very early start 5.45 a.m. worth all the extra effort!  We started off the London visit with lunch at a great little adventure park near the London Eye as our guided tours were a bit later than usual.  We really enjoyed the tour of Westminster and each group heard different things about the history of parliament and the amazing building as we were fortunate to have three excellent guides who each related well to our groups.  Because of the Scottish referendum just a couple of days before Nick Clegg was unable to come and greet us out of the door of No.10 as he has done in the past but we had a great photo opportunity! :)  We then finished with a super flight on the London Eye before the long journey home stopping for pizza on the way.  A FABULOUS 16 hr day out which will be remembered by all for a very long time. All members of Dore Democrats are offered this trip to thank them for the extra time and work they put into representing their classes.  Infant DD have to wait till they are in Y3 before they go but they still have this chance when they are old enough to manage the very long day.  Very many THANKS to Mrs. Fielding who organises all the information and admin and to Mrs. Gleadhill who also helps run Dore Democrats :)
