Y5 Assembly to parents

posted 19 Feb 2014, 09:10 by Sian Granville

It's that time of year again so Y5 have been working hard to pull all their learning about India and Chembakolli together so we can show parents what we have learnt. The assembly included the (world famous) Bollywood dance to start and presented the history of tea, some data handling about the tea drinking habits of Y5 parents and lots more. We began at 2pm with our Fairtrade cafe where we served tea from Chembakolli with chocolate, lemon, coconut and ginger cookies as well as lots of goodies baked at home and brought in for the cafe. As you can see from the pictures, it was really well attended and there was the opportunity to see some of the children's work beforehand.

We were really impressed with how well the children learnt their lines and the choreography as well as how fabulous they all looked in their outfits. Fiona has again come up with a magnificent dance and a new piece of music so her help is also gratefully received! Mrs Warburton also exceeded herself with the whole year group involved with telling two traditional Indian stories - excellent! These were performed to the rest of the Juniors on Tuesday who were enthralled by the performances.
Mrs Smith and I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all you parents who have supported the children by helping them to learn their lines, organised their outfit, baked for the cafe or helped on the day, either in the cafe or with the children's costumes. Your children were outstanding and we're sure you are just as proud of them as we are!
