Our annual trip to Westminster is a very popular trip much enjoyed by our Dore Democrats and parents. Each year at the invitation of Nick Clegg we travel down to London to visit the House of Lords and the Houses of Parliament. We have a very informative tour and the opportunity to ask questions about our parliament and to hear aspects of the fascinating history of this tremendous building. We then have the opportunity to stroll down Downing Street for pictures and sometimes the chance to meet somebody famous going in or out for business.  This year we were delighted and surprised when the door of No. 10 opened and Nick Clegg, our MP and the Deputy Prime Minister came out to spend time with us. Nick spent about half an hour greeting and chatting to everybody before walking Downing Street with us on the way to another meeting. Nick Clegg is coming to visit us at school again on 3rd February 2012.  We finish our time in London with a flight on the Londen Eye which is always spectacular and a great photo opportunity.  This is a very long day out with our last stop on the way home for Pizza mid journey.  It is certainly an experience which will always be remembered. Our Y1 and Y2 Dore Democrats join us for this trip when they are in Y3 and older children who have made a significant impact in Citizenship and serving others also receive an invite.  We aim to take as many pupils as we can over the years.
