Shiver me timbers!

We are now well into our new topic, 'Princesses and Pirates!' Come and see what we've been up to in and outside our classroom...

We have a medieval castle, piped with real medieval music! We've been enjoying royal banquets and graceful dancing.

We've been spotting enemy ships on board our very own Jolly Dore Pirate Ship! Watch out, we've made fantastic telescopes to spot you...

We've found graphemes in the sand and built words, sieved for treasure in the sand and researched pirates using non-fiction books.

We are beginning to learn what life was really like on board a pirate ship; we've been busy scrubbing the decks and washing our smelly clothes! We've also been fishing for magnetic treasure and coin rubbing our doubloons!

After reading some fantastic Pirate stories, we've drawn ourselves as pirates and imagined what kind of adventures we would choose to go on. Take a look at our display in the classroom. In maths we've been working on our coin recognition and adding amounts of money together.

Our next project is to make a huge class non-fiction book, to tell you all that we've learned so far!
