Beginning our "Mists of Time" topic...

This week we have started our brand new topic called "The Mists of Time". In preparation for next week's Creswell Crags visit, we have been researching the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. Using our prior knowledge, we made predictions about the eras that different artefacts could have come from and created timelines to develop our understanding of chronology.

Over the last half term we have had our wonderful Spanish students, Bea and Esther, with us. This week they taught a brilliant Spanish lesson to all of the Y3s and provided plenty of opportunity for everyone (including teachers!) to practise having a conversation in Spanish. We learnt how to say what pets we have at home and even describe our pets using different colours.

In maths, we have been looking at different ways of representing statistics. The children have been collecting lots of data and presenting this in neat pictograms, tables and bar charts.

Finally, children in Mrs Evans' class showed plenty of kindness and creativity this afternoon in their GUS (Growing up skills) lesson. Each child was given the name of another child in the class and challenged to create a gift for them, thinking carefully about what that child would really appreciate. It was a pleasure to see the joy that the children showed at not only receiving their gifts but also in giving their thoughtful creations away.
