Finishing off Pole to Pole . . .

It has been a very busy week, as we have come to the end of our Pole to Pole topic.

In English the children have all written the most fabulous non-chronological reports, all about the Inuit. After writing up their different paragraphs, and improving them with red pen, the children then typed them up and printed them out. They look so professional! The following lesson they analysed two reports from each class to see if they could identify the features of a non-chronological report, and the children produced some great posters to 'teach' others all about them.  Then, to celebrate, both classes ventured down to Y2 to show the Y2s and their old class teachers their brilliant reports! Miss Godfrey and Mrs Gill were both really impressed.

In maths the children have continued learning about money, using different coins and using their column addition and subtraction skills to work out problems.

We have also had some interesting discussions during P4C this week - focussing on whether or not it is right to kill a polar bear, and looking at the reasons why some people do. We also discussed the humungous amount of plastic waste plaguing our planet, and thought about alternatives and solutions together.

The children have also been having a lot of fun learning in dance and music this week. In music we were doing warm up exercises with our voices - hence the interesting expressions!
