A dramatic week in Y4/5G!

What a great start back after the Easter break - Spring weather and lots of enthusiasm for our new Viking topic. We started by looking at our time line to see how the Vikings fit into the history we already know.

Drama is a great way to think about history as we try to put ourselves into the shoes of the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons in the 9th century. We are starting to learn that the Vikings were more than just violent invaders and it's been fascinating to see how their influence continues today through our language and culture. Mrs Warburton also led a lesson this week when we worked on a scene from The Firework Maker's Daughter which really allowed the children to act out the five different characters (plus their inner-crocodile!).
Altogether, a very positive start to the new term - well done everyone!

The time line takes shape as we discuss how the different eras fit together.

Tough questions for the Vikings and Anglo Saxons as we ask about their motives and feelings about the historical events we're starting to study.
