Dore Primary is a Rights Respecting School, we put rights at the heart of what we do. We understand our rights and also recognise and support others who may not have access to all the rights set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

This week's Year 4/5 assembly was about
Refugee Week. Mr Hanks shared his exploits in the Small Park Big Run event in support of education projects in Palestinian refugee camps, which are the same size as Meersbrook Park where the run took place.

The children were also introduced new Magid Magid, our new Lord Mayor who was at the run and is a refugee himself.

We watched the North Star Fading animation inspired by the real lives or Eritrean refugees.

Finally, we looked at 20 simple acts we could do to help.

The children were inspired to go away and complete their own simple acts of kindness, see the Refugee Week website for more information.
