Fraction Fascination

To deepen our understanding of fractions, children explored ways in which they could make one whole. They used practical resources to physically 'make' a whole before checking whether this did indeed equal exactly one whole by finding the sum of the component fractions.
Some of our attempts were agonisingly close to one whole.
Sometimes we had to use a rather larger common denominator if the component fractions were not factors of each other.
